Sewer Root Removal in Parma, OH 44134
Cut the roots out of your Parma sewer line — and deal with the opening that let them in.
Our crews handle sewer root removal across Parma and Cuyahoga County every day of the year. The inspection comes first, the recommendation second, and the written quote before any work begins.
Sewer Root Removal in Parma — what matters locally
At a median build year of 1958, Parma laterals are old enough for joints to have opened and the street trees are old enough to have found them. Root intrusion is among the most common calls we take in Cuyahoga County.
Silver maple, willow and poplar are the most aggressive offenders. A sixty-year-old specimen has a root system that comfortably reaches a lateral under the front lawn.
When Parma properties need sewer root removal
- Repeat backups in the same line, several times a year
- Gurgling toilets or slow drains across multiple fixtures
- A camera showing root mass at a joint
- Mature trees within reach of the lateral — most of Parma's established streets
- Backups that return within months of the last clearing
How the work is carried out
The method itself does not change from city to city, so we have written it up once in full rather than repeating it here:

What it costs in Parma
We know a five-figure sewer repair is a significant expense. That is exactly why we start with a camera inspection and tell you the truth about scope — a single cracked joint needs a spot repair at a fraction of full-line cost, and plenty of backups turn out to need nothing more than a thorough cleaning.
Serving Parma and Cuyahoga County
We work throughout Parma and the surrounding area, including the neighbourhoods around Byers Field, Barons Bus Arena and Regency Park. Whether your property sits on an established street with mature trees overhanging the lateral or in a newer development, the first step is the same: scope the line and find out what is actually there.

Sewer Root Removal in Parma — FAQs
Will the roots grow back?
They will, unless the opening is sealed. Root cutting is a reset, not a repair — we would rather be straight about that than have you book the same job again next year.
Do I have to remove the tree?
Almost never. The pipe is the problem, not the tree. Once the Parma lateral is lined there is no opening for roots to exploit and a mature tree can stay exactly where it is. Removing a healthy shade tree while leaving a cracked joint fixes nothing.
Do chemical root killers work?
As a supplement between cuttings, partly. Foaming root-control products slow regrowth, but they do not remove an established mass and they do not repair the defect. Copper sulphate down a toilet — the classic advice — mostly settles in the trap and achieves very little.
